The Mariampur College of Nursing, Mariampur Hospital, Kanpur is under the patronage of Ursuline Sisters of Mary Immaculate dedicated for
the health, socio-economic and educational development of the people.
The college of nursing offers a course in B. Sc Nursing (4 yrs.) recognized by U.P State Medical Faculty (Letter No 9632/18),
Indian Nursing Council New Delhi, and affiliated to Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj University, Kanpur.
Philosophy
As UMI we follow Jesus to create a just and healthy society in which the suffering humanity can enjoy positive health and
wholeness of life and uphold the dignity.
We believe that nursing education can prepare a nurse motivated by the love of God and neighbour, a nurse having a mature judgement,
intellectually and morally enlightened and professionally equipped so that she will be capable of giving comprehensive nursing care
to the sick and injured and function efficiently in programmes of social health and preventive medicine.
We believe that nursing education is directed towards developing in the students a basic understanding of art, science and
spirit of nursing and the curriculum of nursing requires good understanding of scientific principles so that the students will
be able to gain knowledge and skill for rendering comprehensive nursing care in the hospital and in the community.
We believe that along with personality development, formation of character and mature professional conscience can be inculcated.
We believe in training the nurses towards fullest development of religious, moral, Intellectual, emotional and social
qualities, to be good citizens and we accept everyone irrespective of caste, creed, sex and nationality.

The aim of the undergraduate nursing program is to:-
To provide an educational programme, through which graduates will be prepared to assume the responsibility as professionals,
competent nurses and midwives in promotive, preventive, curative and rehabilitative services.
To prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situations, protect the rights of and facilitate individuals
and groups in pursuit of health, function in the hospital and community nursing services. They are also expected to assume the
role of teacher, supervisor and manager in a clinical or public health setting.
